Aminuddin, Jakarta – The West Java provincial government issued 76 new mining business permits (IUP) in 2025. Bambang Tirtoyuliono, the Head of the Energy and Mineral Resources Agency of West Java, stated that the issuance of these IUPs is carried out with stricter supervision and consideration for environmental and spatial aspects.
"Almost all of them are IUP extensions, but with stricter requirements and supervision," said Bambang in a written statement on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
Bambang mentioned that the local government, or the regency/city government, is responsible for supervising mining activities. However, the West Java provincial government participates in supervising and guiding the mining business processes to ensure compliance with standards and regulations. "The requirements are now stricter and supervised by the local governments with provincial supervision," he said.
According to him, the West Java Energy and Mineral Resources Agency emphasizes that mining business operators must follow and comply with the guidance of the West Java Governor, Dedi Mulyadi. This guidance pertains to tonnage limits or transport capacity, and it prohibits mining activities from operating in forest areas.
"In accordance with the Governor's instructions, it is not allowed to exceed the permitted tonnage or weight, as it is feared that quickly damage the roads, and it is not allowed to be in forest areas," said Bambang.
Bambang mentioned that out of the total of 76 issued IUPs, there is one mining permit for stone in the Sukabumi Regency. "That's a stone mine. So far, the stone needed in West Java has come from Bogor. But what is in Bogor is being evaluated together with the 76 IUPs," he said.
Previously, Dedi Mulyadi had temporarily halted all mining activities in three districts in the Bogor Regency: Rumpin, Cigudeg, and Parung Panjang. This decision was stated in Circular Letter (SE) Number 7920/ES.09/PEREK dated September 25, 2025.
