Sultan Abdurrahman, Jakarta – The Presidential Palace has responded to the arrest of two individuals who uploaded content featuring statements by President Prabowo Subianto. The two individuals were named suspects after sharing a clip concerning Prabowo and Iran's nuclear weapons program.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi did not comment much on the matter. "Ask the police about that," he said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, August 7, 2026.

The Gerindra Party politician also stayed mum when asked if the Palace would simply leave the case to law enforcement.

The West Java Regional Police's Cyber Investigation Directorate arrested two men, identified by the initials AYP (49) and AF (40), in connection with a post on the social media platform Threads that featured statements by Prabowo regarding Iran's nuclear weapons program.

AYP was named a suspect for allegedly creating, editing, and uploading the content on Threads, while AF allegedly posted a provocative comment on the same post.

The police investigation stemmed from a report number LP B 1498/VIII/2026, received by the West Java Regional Police on August 4, 2026, and followed up with a probe by the force's Cyber Investigation Directorate on August 5, 2026.

Subsequently, the police named AYP and AF as suspects. Both were arrested along with evidence in the Jalan Raya Cimahi area, South Cimahi, Cimahi City.

AYP allegedly uploaded content to Threads through an account that raised concerns regarding President Prabowo's statements on Iran's nuclear weapons program. Several replies under AYP's post thus appeared, including one from AF.

Police deemed some of the replies to be inflammatory, which potentially constitutes a criminal offense.

AYP and AF have been charged under the Law on Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE Law) and the Criminal Code. Both face a maximum penalty of four years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp200 million.
